Accessibility Statement

The Gun Cupboard Country Store wants everyone to be able to use our website. This includes people with disabilities and people who use assistive technology, such as screen readers, screen magnifiers or voice control. We are working hard to make https://theguncupboard.co.uk easy to use for as many people as possible.

OUR COMMITMENT

Good access is important to us. We believe every customer should be able to browse our products, find what they need and shop with us in comfort. We are improving our website all the time, and we are open about the work that is still to do.

THE STANDARD WE FOLLOW

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 to level AA. These guidelines are the recognised standard for web accessibility in the UK and around the world. We use them to guide the way we build and improve our website.

We want you to be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • move around most of the website using just a keyboard
  • use most of the website with a screen reader
  • read the content clearly, because we try to use plain and simple language

AbilityNet has helpful advice on making your computer, phone or tablet easier to use if you have a disability. You can find it at https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk.

HOW ACCESSIBLE THIS WEBSITE IS

This website partly meets the WCAG 2.2 level AA standard. We have not yet finished testing every page, and we know there is still work to do. Being honest about this matters to us.

Some parts of the website that we are still checking and improving may include:

  • some images that do not yet have a full text description (alt text)
  • some older product pages and documents, such as PDFs
  • some forms and buttons that could be clearer for keyboard and screen reader users
  • some parts supplied by other companies, such as payment or checkout tools, which we do not fully control
  • We will update this statement as we test more of the site and put right any problems we find.

HOW WE TEST THIS WEBSITE

At the moment we test the website ourselves. We use trusted third-party accessibility tools that check against UK and international standards, including WCAG 2.2. We have not yet had a full review by an outside expert, but that is our aim. When we complete more testing, we will add the date and the method to this statement.

TELL US IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM

We want to hear from you if you find any part of our website hard to use. Please get in touch if you:

  • cannot reach or use something you need
  • would like information in a different format, such as large print, easy read or a plain document

You can contact us:

We will reply within five working days. If you ask for information in another format, we will do our best to help and will let you know how long it may take.

YOUR RIGHTS

We follow the Equality Act 2010. This law says that people and businesses who provide a service must make "reasonable adjustments" so that disabled people can use that service. This includes websites. We take this duty seriously and we are committed to meeting it.

If you contact us with a complaint about access and you are not happy with our reply, you can get free and confidential advice from the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS):

CUSTOMERS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION

If you shop with us from a country in the European Union, extra rules may apply under the European Accessibility Act, which came into force on 28 June 2025. We are aware of these rules and we keep them in mind as we improve our website.

ABOUT THIS STATEMENT

We prepared this statement on July 9, 2026. We review it regularly and update it whenever we make changes. We last reviewed it on July 9, 2026.
