Sako has been building rifles in Finland for over a century. Founded on 1 April 1921, the name is an abbreviation of Suojeluskuntain Ase- ja Konepaja, the Civil Guard Gun and Machining Works, which began life repairing rifles before turning to building them. Since 1927 the company has worked from the same industrial site in Riihimäki, north of Helsinki, and that continuity shows in everything it makes.
Finnish shooting culture demands accuracy above all else, and Sako built its reputation on delivering it. From the L46 sporting rifle that carried the name into America in the 1950s, to the acclaimed Model 85 in over a thousand configurations, the Finnlight, the Quad and Finnfire rimfires, and the S20 hybrid, Sako rifles are made for people who take their shooting seriously. The TRG precision rifles are trusted by military and law enforcement marksmen worldwide. Sako has produced its own ammunition since the 1920s too, and has owned the Tikka name since 1983.
Now part of the Beretta Holding group, Sako remains what it has always been: cold-climate engineering with an obsession for precision, built by people who hunt and shoot themselves.
