The .17 is a small hole to get anything down, and a rod in a barrel that slim is a fiddle worth avoiding. This goes through in one pull and does three things on the way: the leading section loosens what is loose, the bronze brush scrubs the carbon behind it, and the long tail swabs the bore out after. The brass weight is stamped with the calibre, which matters once you own more than one and they all look alike coiled in a drawer. Suits .17 centrefire as well as .17 HMR, which gets through enough rounds in an afternoon to need it.
