Three inches is the right size for airgun ranges and for .22 at a sensible distance: big enough to hold a group, small enough that you have to earn it. What Shoot-N-C takes away is the walk. Each hit lifts the black coating and leaves a bright chartreuse ring around the hole, so you can see where you are shooting from the firing point, in poor light, without a spotting scope and without traipsing down the range between groups.
