Most of what Barbour makes for the head is built to keep the weather out. The Bransdale answers the opposite problem. It is braided straw, light enough that you forget it is on, and open enough in the weave to let a breeze through on a warm afternoon at a country show or a day at the races. The brim is short in the trilby way, so it shades the eyes without flapping about in the wind. A herringbone band runs round the outside and there is Barbour tartan inside the crown, which only shows when the hat comes off. Natural sand, sizes S to XXL.
