The quarter zip is what makes this more useful than a plain sweatshirt. Open at the neck it sits like a collar over a checked shirt; closed, it keeps the draught off the back of the neck on a cold morning. The jersey is brushed and cotton-rich, soft from the first wearing and with enough weight to hold its shape, and the ribbed cuffs and hem do the same job. An antique-brass ring puller and contrast zip tape stop it looking plain, and the EST.1894 logo is embroidered tonally across the chest rather than printed on. In pink blush or fig, a deep berry that goes well with denim.
