Some jumpers are cut to fit; this one is cut to disappear into. The Lavensdale is generously oversized with real weight to the knit, though at 55cm in the back it sits over jeans rather than swamping you. The yarn is mostly wool, with viscose and polyamide worked through for a soft flecked finish that will not scratch at the neck. The funnel collar zips to the chin when the wind gets up and drops open when it does not, with a branded ring puller that is easy to find with cold fingers, and a slim metal Barbour bar at the back neck. Hand wash at 30°C.

Alan Paine clothing has three defined fits, ‘Shooting Fit’, ‘Classic Fit’ and ‘Fashion & Tailored Fit’. The fit can be found under the features tab on each product page – please see the fit definitions below in order to help you choose the best style for you.

The Shooting Fit builds 10″ to 12″ into the garment from actual chest size, allowing for movement and layering.

The Classic Fit builds 5″ to 6″ into the garment from actual chest size, allowing for layering.

The Fashion & Tailored Fit builds 6″ to 8″ into the garment from actual chest size for a closer fit.
