The corduroy collar is what gives it away as a Barbour. It is the same detail you find on the jackets, and on a dog coat it does the same two jobs: it looks right, and it sits softly against the neck where a plain nylon edge would rub after a mile or two. Underneath, the coat is properly made. A polyester outer with a polyurethane membrane, which is a membrane rather than a surface coating, so it goes on keeping rain out through a long wet walk. It fastens over the back with a quick release, and there is a keyhole so the lead can pass through to a harness worn underneath.
