Of all the summer hats this is the dressiest, and the band is why: a striped grosgrain ribbon round the crown with a small Barbour stud set into it, the sort of finish you see on a good panama and almost never on a cheap straw. It takes the hat places the others do not go, a July wedding or a day at the races, while still being light enough to wear all day at a show. The weave is fine and pale, the crown properly creased, and inside there is a cotton band with a little stretch in it so the hat sits down where it should rather than perching. Tan, small to extra large.
