The dots are there so you can hold off rather than reach for the turrets. Once you know what your rifle does at a hundred yards and at a hundred and fifty, the marks below the centre become those distances, and a longer shot can be taken without touching a dial or losing the target while you count clicks. The same marks read sideways for wind. It is a reticle for shooting at varying ranges rather than one known one. Second focal plane, so the spacing holds true at a single magnification. Everything else is the standard Vantage.
