Crows notice shine before they notice shape, which is why the flocked finish on this shell matters more than the moulding. It kills the gloss that gives a cheap decoy away, and the colouring holds up under the kind of light that makes a plastic bird obvious from two fields off. The black sprung peg lets the decoy move on its stand, so the pattern looks alive rather than pegged out. At 110 grams the shells stack flat inside one another, which is the practical argument for them over full-bodied birds when you are carrying a dozen. Sold singly, so build the pattern you want.
