Three to nine is the more useful spread for live quarry, whatever the bigger numbers on a box suggest. At three the field is wide enough to pick up a rabbit that has already started moving, which sixteen times magnification will never do for you, and nine is ample at the distances an air rifle or a .22 actually works. The fifty-millimetre bell keeps the picture bright at first and last light, which is when the rabbits are out. The objective focuses to ten yards, the half mil dot lights against a dark background, and the quick-detachable dovetail mounts are in the box.
