Stalking is not walking. It is crouching, kneeling, sitting down on wet ground and hauling yourself into a high seat, and a rigid trouser argues with every one of those. A few per cent of elastane through a cotton twill is enough to let the knee and the seat go where you send them without the cloth pulling tight across the thigh. The rest is plain and traditional: a straight leg, five pockets, and cotton that softens with washing rather than looking tired. There is no membrane, so keep them for dry days.
