The best glove is usually the one you have with you, and fleece gloves weigh so little and pack so small that they end up living in a coat pocket all winter. That is most of the argument for them. Fleece also has the useful habit of drying quickly and staying warm while damp, which wool does less well and leather hardly at all. The cuffs are elasticated, so there is no fastening to fiddle with in the cold. What they are not is waterproof: these are gloves for a cold dry morning, not for standing about in rain.
