The point of a brim this wide, in wax, is that rain runs off clear of your collar instead of finding its way down the back of your neck. A flat cap soaks through and a bucket hat drips on your shoulders; this does neither, which is why the shape has stayed in use on shoot days and river banks for as long as it has. The brim edge is bound so it keeps its line, there are aged brass eyelets at the crown to let air through, tonal embroidery on the band, and Barbour tartan trim inside. Sponge clean only, and it will darken and soften with wear.
