A black reticle disappears against a black target. That is the whole problem an illuminated one solves: a fox standing in the shadow of a hedge, or a rabbit sat in dead ground at last light, swallows a plain crosshair so completely that you cannot tell where you are aiming. This lights in red or green across five levels, and the two colours are not decoration. Red sits well against green foliage and leaves your night vision alone; green shows against brown stubble and in daylight bright enough to wash red out. Adjustable objective from nine metres, so it suits an air rifle as well.
