Sun hats are usually bought in a hurry, on the first warm morning of a game fair, and the hurried choice is nearly always too mean in the brim. Seven centimetres the whole way round is enough to keep the sun off the nose and the back of the neck at the same time. The cloth is light and dries quickly, so it will not go heavy and shapeless if it catches a shower, and it packs down into a bag without keeping the crease. UPF 40+ behind it, a chin strap for open ground, Barbour embroidery at the front and tartan trim inside. Small to extra large, sponge clean.
