Gingham is the most civilised of the checks. Two colours, even squares, none of the clamour of a tartan, and from any distance at all it reads almost as a plain. That makes it the pattern to reach for when you want a shirt that will behave itself under knitwear rather than fight it. The check here is kept small and comes in olive, navy, copper, dark sand or agave green. The cloth is a cotton twill brushed on both faces, so it is soft to wear as well as neat to look at, and the collar buttons down. Sizes small to XXXL, machine wash at 30°C.
