The back is cut longer than the front, which is the detail that separates a country shirt from a town one. Mount a gun, swing through on a high bird or bend to pick up, and an ordinary shirt pulls straight out of the waistband. A tail back stays where you put it. The collar buttons down for the same reason, lying flat under a jacket instead of riding up as the gun comes into the shoulder.
