Every bucket hat shares the same failing: the first decent gust takes it off your head and puts it in the river. This one comes with a cord chin strap that adjusts to fit and unclips altogether when there is no wind worth the name. The cloth is Barbour dry wax, which sheds a shower much as ordinary wax does but without the oily handle, so it is a good deal easier to live with. Six panels give the crown its domed shape rather than the flat top you usually find, and the tartan is tucked away inside. Dusky green or golden khaki.
