There is no membrane in these, and on a dry day that is rather the point. A waterproof trouser worn when it is not raining is a warm, airless thing, and a good many days out do not call for one. The Tradition is unlined poly-cotton with a water-repellent finish, which turns a shower, dries quickly and lets the heat out the rest of the time. Six pockets, one cut for a knife, zips at the ankle and a waistband that stays where it is put. If it is going to rain properly, carry an overtrouser.
