Every other sock on the shelf assumes the boot is keeping the water out. This one does the job itself. Three layers: a tough nylon outer, Sealskinz’ Aquasealz membrane through the middle, and Merino with a terry loop pile against the foot. The upshot is that a boot which has started to leak, a stream deeper than you judged it, or a morning standing in wet stubble all stop mattering. The membrane holds wind out too, and being a solid barrier there is nothing to re-proof. Washes at forty and takes a low tumble dry.
